This thorough kit of planetary viewing accessories makes it easy to obtain optimal views of our nearest neighbors in space. Let's take a closer look at each of the included items in this affordable kit of accessories:
The included Orion Shorty 2x Barlow Lens doubles the magnifying power of any 1.25" eyepiece. Using the Orion Shorty 1.25" 2x Barlow Lens is easy. Simply insert the Shorty 2x Barlow into your telescope's focuser or diagonal, and then insert any 1.25" eyepiece into the Orion Shorty, gently securing it in place with the two thumbscrews. Then, adjust the telescope's focus wheels to enjoy double the magnification of the eyepiece used.
The set of four color eyepiece filters that come in this kit will help enhance subtle details of the planets and the Moon by selectively increasing the contrast between markings of different hues. The included Set of Four Color Filters includes our most popular color planetary telescope eyepiece filters: #15 Deep Yellow, #25 Red, #58 Green, and #80A Medium Blue. These filters are vat-dyed for even color coating and then anti-reflection coated for maximum transmission.
Offering a wide 52° apparent field of view, the included 7.5mm Orion Sirius Plossl 1.25" Telescope Eyepiece provides extremely sharp images of impressively high contrast. The 7.5mm Sirius is a perfect eyepiece to use with the color filter set to coax details out of planetary views. As previously mentioned, when used with the included Shorty 2x Barlow, the 7.5mm Sirius Plossl behaves like a 3.75mm eyepiece for very high power views!
The included Star Target planisphere makes it easy to plan your planetary and lunar viewing sessions. Dial in your local date and time and it shows you the locations of the constellations and deep-sky objects in the night sky. You can even use the Orion Star Target planisphere chart to plan out a stargazing session in the future, or see what time of year your favorite constellation or star will be visible.
The included Orion MoonMap 260 will help the whole family learn the names and locations of more than 260 craters, mountains, valleys, "seas" and other interesting lunar features you can explore with your telescope. Use the MoonMap 260 to identify craters you've observed, or use it before you go out with a telescope to plan a night full of Moon-watching family fun.
Red-tinted AstroGoggles will help you get the most out of each and every observing session with your telescope. To get the most out of your deep sky observations, you need your eyes to be sufficiently dark-adapted and optimized for low-light viewing. Put on the Orion AstroGoggles and wear them for a half-hour or so before you use your telescope to help your eyes adapt to the darkness of the night sky.
Get the most out of each and every planetary observation with this value-packed kit!
