The Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector Telescope exemplifies the perfect combination of well-rounded performance and convenient portability. Whether you're looking for a versatile introductory instrument to start exploring the sky with, or a compact, portable telescope to take on the road with you, the StarBlast 6 will be a perfect fit.
It's a sturdy, hands-on telescope that comes almost fully assembled in the box; you just have to attach three accessories. The StarBlast's Newtonian reflector optical tube rides on a beefy, low-profile base designed for stability and smooth up-down, left-right manual navigation. Set it on the ground or on a picnic table, whichever is most comfortable. The optical tube can be rotated inside the tube rings to put the focuser and eyepiece at a convenient angle.
Speaking of the optical tube, its star-seeking prowess comes from a 6"- aperture (152mm) parabolic mirror that has a focal length of 750mm. The mirror gathers gobs of faint light from objects in and well beyond our solar system. The Moon's cratered surface will dazzle, and views of Jupiter and its moons and Saturn and its picturesque rings will leave you astounded. Mind-boggling globular and open star clusters, wispy nebulas, some distant galaxies and other celestial denizens are well within reach. With a wide-field focal ratio of f/4.9, finding and manually tracking target objects is easier than with longer focal-length telescopes, which makes stargazing more fun for beginners. The StarBlast 6's aluminum 2" rack-and-pinion focuser allows use 1.25" or optional 2" eyepieces.
And you get all these outstanding accessories:
The included red dot finder scope makes aiming the telescope nice and easy.
After a simple alignment procedure, you can use the red dot scope to accurately aim the StarBlast 6 at objects in the sky. Peer through the sight's small viewing window and maneuver the telescope until the red LED dot is superimposed on the object you want to see. Then look in the telescope eyepiece, and the object will be there!
Two Plossl eyepieces provide low- and high-power magnification options.
The StarBlast 6 comes with two quality 1.25" Plossl eyepieces, a 25mm for low-power 30x magnification and a 10mm for stronger 75x magnification. Both eyepieces are threaded for use with optional Orion filters (sold separately).
The eyepiece rack keeps your oculars ready for action
Use the included eyepiece rack to keep eyepieces conveniently within reach during stargazing sessions. The rack can hold two 1.25" eyepieces and one optional 2" eyepiece. The rack can also hold an optional 1.25" or 2" Barlow lens (sold separately).
Use the Orion MoonMap 260 to identify lunar features.
With locations and names of over 260 features on the Moon such as craters, mountains, valleys, "seas" and more, the MoonMap 260 is a great tool for any Moongazer. This detailed map will even show you where various spacecraft have landed on the Moon's surface!
The Orion DeepMap 600 will guide you to fascinating celestial gems.
It's a full-color star map of the night sky with clearly indicated positions of 600 of the finest deep-sky objects to view. It folds up just like a road map for easy storage and transport. Back side lists essential data for all 600 objects, including a brief visual description of each. Printed on dew-proof plastic.
Take smartphone pics of the view through your telescope with this nifty holder.
Adjustable smartphone holder clamps onto the telescope's eyepiece, allowing you to take shake-free, well-focused, high-power photos of celestial objects. Sure beats trying to steadily hand-hold your phone over the eyepiece — frustrating! You'll get more "keepers" with our smartphone photo adapter.
Weighing in at a modest 22 lbs., the assembled StarBlast 6 telescope is portable enough to easily take along on the next family campout or road-trip. The optical tube quickly detaches from the base for carrying separately. Two handle cutouts in the base allow easy lifting and transporting of the telescope.
The Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Telescope isn't just a masterfully engineered, uncomplicated, and affordable telescope for all ages, it's also a blast. (C'mon, we couldn't help ourselves!)
